It was my honour and privilege to be able to support my father and honour my grandmother’s wishes. My father is not able to discuss dying but my grandmother and I often had open conversations about her wishes. It empowered me to hear her sense of control and gave me the confidence to make the decision to stop care and allowed my grandmother to die, peacefully as she had wished.
