Your eyes widened

Dad, you lay in a hospice bed, restless, confused at most times, picking things in the air, fighting for breath as your lungs filled up — your eyes widened when your two youngest walked in the room. It took a moment of coughing and rambling – as my brother and I each held a hand – you said clearly as you held up your skinny arm “I give you my blessing.”
