My cousin was in control of her death

Just a few short weeks ago my cousin died of ovarian cancer after a very brief illness. I was privileged to be asked to be official witness to her request for assisted death under the new laws.

My cousin was in control of her death as she had always been in control of her successful career and her happy life. She wrote her own obituary expressing her love for her family — she distributed her most important belonging — she planned the party to celebrate her life & death. She said goodbye & then she left us.

I miss her. I admire her. I hope I have the courage and the strength to face my death as she did hers.
Goodbye.
