I have told this story many times before, but for the new volunteers it will be new.

In 1997 my mother died after suffering from colon cancer. It was a long journey for our family. We had a lovely lady come from hospice to befriend my mom. Her name was Carol. Little would Carol know the impact that volunteering would have on my mother. She went to Florida with her older husband who had retired, yet every Wednesday Mom would say “No visitors today between 12-1. Carol will be calling.” When mom passed I vowed I would give back to Hospice and I would not change it for anything else.
