His children were not tolds

Is of my father, who died at the insanely young age of 39. I was 9, and couldn’t understand what happened. He had a heart attack, and was in the hospital dying, for days, but we, his children, were not told our father was about to die. Hospital rules in the 1960’s prevented us from going into his room. My last view of him alive was through a hospital window saying, “Bye, Dad. Next time we see you, you’ll be home.” It wasn’t.
